This week at FMC

THIS WEEK @ FMC – July 12-18, 2023

As we continue to pray with the prayer Jesus taught this summer, consider this prayer focusing on just one phrase of Jesus’ prayer, written by Jerry Holsopple.  My notes indicate he prepared this prayer for Immanuel Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg VA for Lent 2009:

Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done

We pray for the Kingdom of God to come

Not for the kingdom of our nation

Not for the kingdom of commerce

But the kingdom of God

We confess that we often make your good news a business

We are tempted to claim our nation as your special one

We repent of our desires;

For other kingdoms, for other rulers, for security,

for wealth, for fame.

We pray for strength as we enter our own wilderness of temptation

Teach us your paths and your ways

Blessed are you Lord who brings the kingdom

That gathers the many and the few

And creates anew.

AMEN

Pastor Tonya
